Are Parents REQUIRED to Help Adult Children?

. 06/26/2020 . 0 Comments

Advice columnist and relationship expert Deborrah Cooper takes time to respond in video form to a 28 year old channel visitor’s question posted under “Parenting: Enabling Adult Children Into Uselessness!” (https://youtu.be/LH0MCLjN868). Shocked at the sense of entitlement displayed in the note, serious questions arose.

When does a child demanding assistance from a parent cross over into entitlement? And when parents DO step in to “help” an adult who has made decisions contrary to those recommended by their parents, is such assistance codependency?

How much should aging parents do to assist their adult children before that assistance becomes risky for both the adult child and the parent?
