What Black Women Think About Street Harassment

. 10/29/2010 . 2 Comments

In this fourth segment of the What Black Women Think series, Sistah Girl and her male friend Dante discuss Dante’s attitude that Black women need to acknowledge him by smiling and saying “hello,” every time he speaks, whistles,  honks or shouts at her on public streets. They delve into the sense of entitlement Black men have to Black women’s time, attention and bodies by use of tactics known as street harassment.

Sistah Girl corrects Dante’s misconceptions and the justifications men give for cat calls, profanity, physical assaults and verbal abuse of African American females on public transit and on the streets of cities across the U.S. Street harassment of black females needs to stop.
