Black Women Prefer Relationship With Jesus to Black Men
A recent Washington Post/Kaiser Foundation poll of black women in America revealed findings that challenge long-held beliefs that women seek love and commitment more than men. This comprehensive survey, released January 2012, says much differently. There are also many other insights into the thinking and expectations of Black women vs. those of White women, White men, and Black men regarding religion, children, work, health and marriage.
Two very interesting insights from the survey:
- 33% of Black women surveyed believe that marriage is not too important or not important at all;
- 76% of Black women surveyed ranked being respected by others as very important to them;
- Less than half the Black women surveyed (44%) ranked being in a good romantic relationship as being very important; and
- 74% of Black women surveyed ranked a relationship with God as very important to them.
Join me tonight to discuss these survey findings and what they may mean for Black women in America.

What I think is the most disenfranchised group of people will be your most religious group. Black women are the most oppressed group of people on the planet, therefore they are the most religious.
